Vladimir Gruzdev was bornon 6 February 1967 in Russia. Vladimir Gruzdev is a businessman-turned-politician. After retiring from the military 20 years ago, he began managing several shops for fellow billionaire Oleg Boyko, and later founded supermarket chain Sedmoi Kontinent. He sold his stake in the company in 2007, before the financial crisis, to his partner Alexander Zanadvorov. Gruzdev's family continues to control retail network Fashion Continent and owns land near Moscow. Gruzdev entered politics in 2001 when he was elected to the Moscow City Duma. Two years later he was elected to the State Duma. He was reelected in 2007. In 2011 Gruzdev was appointed governor of Tula Oblast, 200 kilometers south of Moscow. In 2013 Gruzdev and his wife declared the highest income among the families of regional governors in Russia.
