BIOGRAPHY

Sunita Williams was bornon 19 September 1965 in Euclid, Ohio, United States, American, is Astronaut. Sunita Lyn Williams is an American astronaut and former US Navy officer. She first became a naval test pilot, then a test pilot instructor, and flew over 30 different aircraft and logged more than 2,770 flight hours. Selected as an astronaut by NASA, she spent 322 days in space on two missions, and ranked sixth on the all-time US endurance list, and second all-time as a female. She was assigned to the International Space Station (ISS) as a member of Expedition 14 and Expedition 15, and served as a flight engineer on Expedition 32 and then commander of Expedition 33. She has created several records onboard ISS. She holds the personal record of 50 hours and 40 minutes cumulative spacewalk time, which puts her in the No. 8 position on the list of the most experienced spacewalkers. She also created a world record amongst females with four spacewalks totaling 29 hours and 17 minutes. In July 2015, NASA selected her as one of the first astronauts for US Commercial spaceflights.

In 1992, she became the Officer-in-Charge of an H-46 detachment, and went to Miami, Florida, for Hurricane Andrew Relief Operations onboard USS Sylvania

In 1989, she was designated as a Naval Aviator, and reported to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 3 for initial H-46 Sea Knight, training
