Simonpietro Salini was born in Italy. Simonpietro Salini is new to the Forbes Billionaires list this year. He chairs Salini Impregilo, a massive construction company that builds airports, power plants, railroads and dams all over the world. Stock in the public company spiked 11% over the last year. His 44% stake is worth $1.2 billion (870 million euros). His father, an engineer, started the business in 1936. When he died in 1964, Simonpietro, an architect, took over and now shares ownership with his brother Francesco Saverio Salini, who also joins the billionaires list this year. The brothers own a private real estate company called Zeis Srl in Italy. Simonpietro's son Pietro, the oldest of 10 children, is CEO of Impregilo. Francesco Saverio's son Simon Pietro leads Zeis. Neither brother is involved in daily operations of the companies.
