Piero Solari Donaggio & family was born in Chile. Piero Solari Donaggio joins the Forbes Billionaires list thanks to his stake in SACI Falabella, Chile's largest retail company by market capitalization. Falabella started in 1889 as the first large tailor shop in Chile. In the 1930s Piero's uncle, Alberto Solari, joined Falabella, expanded it into women's clothing and housewares and brought in members of his family to help and to enjoy the financial rewards that came with stellar growth. Falabella has become a Latin powerhouse, employing more than 80,000 people in Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. It has announced plans to make $3.92 billion in investments during the 2013-2017 period. Piero's shares his stake with his two brothers Carlo Solari Donnagio, vice chairman of the company, and Sandro Solari Donnagio, Falabella's chief executive officer.
