Liz Elting was born in New York, New York, United States. Elting is co-CEO of New York-based TransPerfect, one of the world's largest translation firms. The $546 million (sales) firm has around 11,000 clients including AT&T, Google and Wal-Mart. She founded the company in 1992 with Phil Shawe, her one-time fiancé, in a college dorm room. The couple broke up in 1997 but remain Co-CEOs. Partnership later soured, and pair sued each other in 2014. In 2017, Delaware Supreme Court approved Elting's demand for the company's forced sale in an open auction.
The goal was to create something different and amazing. The idea was to be a pioneer in this industry.
