
Hua Bangsong was born in China. Hua Bangsong is a newcomer to the Forbes Billionaires List this year thanks to years of growth in China's energy and chemicals industries. The chairman and founder of Wison Engineering in Hong Kong runs the largest non-government controlled engineering and construction firm to China's chemicals and energy-extraction industries. Wison, incorporated in 1997 to make ethylene cracking furnaces, has operations in China, the U.S., Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. It floated an IPO in December in Hong Kong, raising $154 million selling 600 million shares. Hua and his wife own close to 80% of the company. Its shares are up 35% since late January. One of its divisions is expanding its shipbuilding capacity and its Horton Wison Deepwater division based in Houston delivered an innovative floating rig to be used in the shallower waters off of Peru.
