Antonio Jose Carneiro was born in Brazil. Antonio Jose Carneiro first worked in banking and got into the electricity distribution business seven years ago, buying a stake in Brazilian electricity distributor Cataguazes Leopoldina at a bargain price when U. S. institutional investor Alliant sold its stake at a loss. The majority of his wealth comes from his shares in Energisa, a publicly-traded company that controls 10.5% of the electricity distribution in Brazil's Northeast region. Carneiro also chairs Rio de Janeiro-based real estate construction and sales company Joao Fortes Engenharia. He reportedly loves horses and soccer; he is a passionate fan of Botafogo, one of Brazil's most well known soccer clubs.
